Ingrid, a jazz violinist, singer and songwriter, was born in Tallinn, Estonia, where her musical journey began at a young age. At just six years old, she picked up the violin at Nõmme Music School, and over the years, music became an essential part of her identity. However, her true passion for jazz wasn’t ignited until she attended to Charles Lloyd concert at the Jazzkaar Festival when she was sixteen. That experience shifted her focus from classical music to jazz, marking the beginning of her deep exploration into the world of improvisation and rhythm.
Ingrid pursued her formal musical education at the Estonian Academy of Music, but her creative journey soon took her beyond Estonia’s borders. She relocated to Denmark to study at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, a move that would prove to be a defining moment in her career. In Denmark, she found not only a new home but also a vibrant community of like-minded musicians with whom she collaborates to this day. She has toured extensively across Europe with the European Jazz Youth Orchestra and performed with the internationally acclaimed group Sisters in Jazz, further solidifying her reputation in the jazz world.
Drawing inspiration from Estonian folk music and her personal life, Ingrid has released several albums that fuse tradition with modern jazz, creating a sound uniquely her own. Her music weaves together nostalgia and innovation, constantly evolving with each new project. Her work has not gone unnoticed, and she was honored by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a Certificate of Appreciation for her efforts in promoting Estonian culture and music in Denmark.
With a new album on the horizon, Ingrid is excited to continue pushing the boundaries of jazz and improvisation, staying true to her roots while embracing fresh, innovative sounds. Her journey is a testament to the power of musical discovery and the endless possibilities that come with improvisation.
